On Sept 8, 2022 a Northwood client brought in a neighborhood stray cat in on emergency.  Her dog had attacked the cat, a DSH brown tabby, estimated to be about 1 year old.  The cat had obvious signs of respiratory distress.  The Good Samaritan relinquished her for care-we named her Mercedes. Once stablized, x rays showed significant trauma to her chest wall and lungs-she had severe pneumothorax, pulmonary contusions (bruised lungs), fractured ribs and luxated xiphoid (bone at end of rib cage).  A few days after being admitted to the hospital, swelling was noted on the left side of her abdomen which proved to be an abdominal hernia secondary to the attack.  She had surgery to repair the tear in her abdominal wall.  We named her Mercedes.  She has done well in hospital, recovered well from all her injuries,  and is ready for adoption.  She  has tested negative for FeLV/FIV, fecal negative, vaccinated, spayed  and microchipped.  Now she just needs a home.
