On December 2, a 3 year old male neutered gray and white DSH was brought to Northwood Animal Hospital on emergency.  He had a urethral obstruction-he could not urinate.

He was taken to emergency surgery to try and de-obstruct him.  Surgery was not successful.  His urethra tore and unable to pass a urinary catheter. Brock needed a more extensive surgery called a penile urethrostomy.  This surgery changes his anatomy, making him urinate more like a female cat by shortening and widening the penis.  The owners were not prepared for such an extensive surgery so they relinquished him to Northwood.  He was admitted into CARE and the life saving surgery was performed.  We named him Brock.

It took Brock some time for his surgical site to heal but he is now urinating well on his own.  He will need to be on urinary tract diet for life to prevent future crystal formation, but he should not obstruct again due to the PU surgery.

Brock is ready to go into a loving home.
