On March 6th, 2025, an injured dog was brought in by his owner. They had let him out in the yard and a few minutes later he came in with a proptosed left eye (eye partially hanging out of socket). It is unknown what happened-obviously significant trauma, maybe a dog attack?
The owners could not manage his treatment and relinquished him to Northwood Animal Hospital for care. He is a 1 ½ year old male black and tan Frenchie/Chihuahua mix. He had emergency surgery that night to remove the damaged left eye and was neutered.
Upon recovery, Buck exhibited some concerning fear aggression towards his caretakers. But with gentle handling in hospital he has warmed to us. He is still a nervous boy and would do best in a calm, quiet home without children.
We call him Buck. He has been vaccinated, treated for hookworms, neutered and microchipped. He just needs a safe, quiet home.
