On June 26th a critically ill kitten was brought to Northwood. She is a lilac point Siamese mix, est. DOB 5-12-19. She had been seen by the Good Samaritan a few days earlier, weak but still getting around. However, this day they found her collapsed. She was found on Honeysuckle Dr/Ocala and Tennessee. Upon presentation she was non-responsive, pale gums (very anemic with PCV of 15) and infested with fleas. An IV catheter was placed and emergency blood transfusion (a Xenotransfusion, using Great Dane blood for her) was begun. During the transfusion, the kitten went into cardiopulmonary arrest. She responded to rescucitation and the transfusion proceeded. We named the kitten Cerulean. Cerulean has rallied and is doing quite well now. She is negative for FeLV/FIV, has been spayed/microchipped and has completed her kitten vaccines. Now she needs a home.
