On Feb. 9, 2025, a badly injured male orange tabby kitten (est DOB 4-9-24) was brought to Northwood Animal Hospital on emergency.  He was found near Publix with abrasions on his head and dragging both rear legs.  He likely had been hit by a car.  We named him Joseph.

Medical treatment was instituted (NSAIDs, pain medication, laser therapy) to see if he could regain use  of his rear legs.  He was able to urinate and defecate.  And in time, he regained some use of his left rear leg.  His right rear leg never showed signs of improvement.  If anything, the right rear leg was impeding his use of the stronger left hind leg by getting in the way.  The decision was made to amputate his right rear leg. He was neutered and microchipped at the same time.  Joseph is recovering well.  He has no pain and his mobility is improving daily.  He has been cleared for adoption.  As long as you are up for a special needs kitten.
