On 12-4-19 a very ill 1.8lb black and white female puppy (reportedly Border Collie/Shih Tzu/Miniature Schnauzer mix) was brought to Northwood. Her DOB was 10-17-19. The owners had just gotten her the day before from someone giving away puppies. The puppy was very weak, had a blood glucose of only 24, was vomiting and having diarrhea. Parvo test was negative. Round worms were found on a fecal float. The puppy needed to be hospitalized the to address the diarrhea, nausea and get her blood sugar back up. The owners could not manage aggressive treatment and were electing to take her home. As bad as Chloe looked, she would likely not survive without aggressive treatment. The owners ultimately elected to relinquish her to Northwood. Within 24 hours, Chloe was eating again and her blood sugar was normal. She now weighs all of 3 1/2lbs. Her name is Noel. She is doing very well now, has been spayed, is progressing
through her puppy vaccines (not completed yet) and is now available for adoption.
