On January 14, 2025, a badly injured Walker Hound was found by the side of the road in Monticello (Jefferson Co).  Good Samaritan was on her way to work when she found him.  She brought him to Northwood Animal Hospital for emergency care.  The Good Samaritan initially showed interest in paying for his care and keeping him as her pet.  However the  cost for his care was beyond what she could manage.

The male red and white Walker hound, estimated to be about 1 year old, has sustained a severe fracture of his right distal femur (bone just above the knee).  He also had free air in his lungs (pneumothorax).  He most certainly had been hit by a car.  He needed to be hospitalized, his shock and chest issues managed and eventual surgery to repair the fracture.

The Good Samaritan decided to sign him over to the hospital for care.  He was stable enough for surgery 2 days after arrival-cross pins were placed across the fractured bone fragments to put them back in alignment.

We named him Timber.  His leg has healed well.  He is starting to use the leg well.  He has been treated for hookworms, vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.  Timber is now ready for adoption.
